The messenger built into the system: direct messages and group chats between your colleagues, with attachments. You can also pin a record, such as a bill or a voucher, to a message so the other person can open it.
When to use it
When you need to ask someone about a particular document without leaving your work, or keep a running conversation with a team.
Before you start
The person you want to write to must be a user in your own organisation. You need access to Messenger. Reading, sending and managing a group are separate rights, so you may be able to read a thread you cannot add people to.
Where to find it
Accounts > Messenger for the full page. The message button in the top bar opens the same conversations in a side panel, with a count of what you have not read.

How it works
A conversation is private to its members. Only a member can read it or post to it. Adding someone lets them see the thread from that point on, and removing them takes their access away again.
Attaching a record to a message is checked twice, once for you and once for each reader. You can attach a record only from a screen you can read. When the message is opened, the reader's own access is checked again. If they are not allowed on that screen, or the record does not belong to their organisation, they still see the name of the document, but the link does not open. The message itself is never blocked, only the link.
Messages are delivered as you type them, and each one carries ticks showing who has received and read it. If a message arrives while you are working elsewhere, a short pop-up appears with an Open action, unless you have muted that conversation.
You can delete your own message for about a minute after sending it. After that the option is gone, and it cannot be removed by asking again later.
Tips and common mistakes
- Muting stops the pop-up and the count. It does not stop the messages.
- If a colleague says your linked document "does not open", the link is fine. Check their access to that screen instead of sending it again.
- You cannot delete someone else's message, and you cannot delete your own once the first minute has passed.
