The names of the months, both Nepali and English, and the order they run in. Every month picker in the product is drawn from this list.
When to use it
Hardly ever. Both sets of twelve come with the product. You come here to correct a spelling that users are seeing, or to check how a month is spelt before you match it somewhere else.
Before you start
You need an admin role, because this list is shared across the whole company.
Where to find it
Setup > Calendar Setup > Month.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Month Name | Name of the month as it should read on screens and reports, such as Baisakh or January. | No |
| Month Type | Whether this is a Nepali (BS) or an English (AD) month. BS pickers only offer the BS names. | No |
| Order (1-12) | Position within the calendar year (1=Jan/Baisakh, 12=Dec/Chaitra) | No |
How it works
The entries marked as Nepali are the ones users meet. They fill the Month picker on:
- Meter Reading,
- the VAT Register, where the month decides which maskebari the entry falls in,
- the Rental Meter Reading report,
- and the BS Month setup screen.
Each of those pickers shows the Nepali entries only. An English month never appears in them, and an entry saved with the wrong kind disappears from wherever you expected it.
Correcting a spelling changes what those pickers show from the next time they load. It does not change anything already recorded against that month, because entries hold the month itself, not the wording.
Deleting one of the twelve leaves a gap in every picker above, and any entry already recorded against it shows nothing where the month should be. Correct a name instead of removing and re-adding it.
Tips and common mistakes
- The kind of month decides where the name appears. Marking a Nepali month as English removes it from every picker above at once.
- Keep the order right, first through twelfth. That is what puts the picker in calendar order instead of alphabetical order.
- Twelve Nepali and twelve English is the whole list. There is no reason to add a thirteenth.
