How it works
Saving adds the question to its quiz, and its Marks to the quiz total. A learner's score is measured against that total. Next, add the answers on the Question Option screen.
The Type decides how the answer is judged:
- Single choice and true or false: the answer the learner picked has to be one you ticked Correct.
- Multiple choice: the learner has to pick every correct answer and no wrong one.
- Short text: what the learner typed is compared with the wording of the options you ticked Correct, ignoring capitals and spaces at either end. Add one option for each acceptable spelling.
Marks are all or nothing. A question worth 5 awards 5 when the whole answer is right, and 0 otherwise. There are no part marks for getting some of a multiple choice right.
Tips and common mistakes
- A question with no answers ticked Correct can never be got right. It still counts towards the quiz total, so it drags every score down.
- On short text, think about how people really type. Only the wordings you list are accepted.
- Explanation is stored with the question for your own reference. It is not shown to a learner after the attempt.
