A Material Requisition Note (MRN) is an internal request for materials: a site or department asking the store for items. The store then either gives them out from stock or passes the request on to purchasing.
When to use it
- A department needs materials and you want a formal, approved request on record.
- You want the store to decide whether to issue from stock or raise a purchase order.
Where to find it
ERP > Inventory > Material Requisition Note.

How it works
- Create the requisition: add the items needed (product and quantity), then save.
- Submit it. The store then does one of two things:
- Fulfils from stock (approve / fulfil from stock), or
- Forwards to purchase. Purchasing approves it, and a Purchase Order can then pull the lines.
- Close it when done. Reject and Cancel are also available.
Tips and common mistakes
- Each line needs a Product and a Quantity. Cost center is optional on the line; the one on the header applies.
- An MRN is a request, not a transaction. It does not move stock or money on its own.
- An approved MRN can be turned into a Purchase Order, and the lines copy across.
