The list of fuels a vehicle can run on: diesel, petrol, electric, CNG.
When to use it
Once, while setting up the fleet, so that the Fuel Type list on a vehicle offers the right choices.
Before you start
Nothing has to exist first. You need rights on Fleet setup.
Where to find it
Fleet > Fuel Type.
The fields on this screen
How it works
These rows are used in exactly one place: the Fuel Type list on a vehicle record (Masters > Fixed Assets > Fleet Vehicles). The list shows the Fuel Name.
Nothing else in the product reads this master. Code, Unit and Display Order are stored with the row, but no screen, report or calculation uses them. In particular, Display Order does not set the order of the list on the vehicle, which comes back in its own order. Fuel consumption and fuel cost are not worked out from the Unit you set here.
Renaming a fuel changes what every vehicle already using it displays, because the vehicle stores the link, not the text. Deleting one leaves the vehicles that pointed at it with nothing selected.
Tips and common mistakes
- Keep the list short. Each entry is a choice somebody has to make on every vehicle, and nothing later on treats one differently from another.
