One row per lesson per enrolment, recording whether that learner has finished that lesson. Course completion is counted from these rows.
When to use it
When you mark off what a learner has actually done: after a classroom session, after a supervisor confirms somebody has read a procedure, or to correct a lesson ticked off by mistake.
Before you start
- The learner's Enrollment must exist. You need its reference number, because this screen asks you to type it instead of picking it from a list.
- The Lesson must exist.
- You need create rights on this screen.
Where to find it
Knowledge and Training > Lesson Progress.
The Knowledge and Training group is switched off in the main menu for now, so the entry is not shown. Until it is switched back on, open the screen from a link someone sends you or from a saved bookmark.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Enrollment ID | The enrolment this progress belongs to. It is typed in as a number here, not picked from a list. | No |
| Lesson | The lesson this row records progress on. One row per lesson per enrolment. | No |
| Status | Not started, In progress or Completed. Only Completed counts towards finishing the course and its certificate. | No |
| Progress % | How far through the lesson the learner is. It is for display only - completion counts finished lessons. | No |
| Time Spent (min) | Minutes spent on this lesson. It is recorded for reporting and does not affect completion. | No |
| Last Accessed | (not explained yet) | No |
| Completed At | When this lesson was finished. Completing a course is judged on the status above, not on this date. | No |
How it works
Only Completed counts. In progress and Not started leave the learner where they were. Progress % and Time Spent (min) are recorded for your reporting and affect nothing.
Once every lesson in the course has a Completed row for that enrolment, the enrolment is finished. Its Final Score is filled in and a certificate is issued. That happens when the course totals are worked out, not at the moment you save here. Until the completion check is run for them, a learner can look stuck on the Enrollment screen.
Keep one row per lesson per enrolment. A second row for the same lesson does not count twice, but it makes the picture confusing to read.
Tips and common mistakes
- Marking the last lesson Completed does not issue the certificate on its own. Ask your administrator to run the course completion check for that enrolment.
- Do not use Completed to mean "started". It is the only value that moves the learner forward.
