The faculties or streams you teach, such as Science, Management or a Bachelor course, each with the level it sits at and whether it runs by year or by semester.
When to use it
When your institution offers more than one stream and you want classes grouped under them. A school that only runs Grade 1 to 10 can leave this list empty.
Before you start
Nothing else has to exist first. You need create rights on this screen.
Where to find it
Masters > School > Program.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Program code | Short code for the programme, used where the full name will not fit. | No |
| Program name | for example Science, Management, BBS | Yes |
| Level | Level the programme sits at: School (Grade 1-10), +2 / Higher Secondary, Bachelor or Master. | No |
| Duration type | Whether the programme runs by Annual year or by Semester. | No |
| Active | Untick to retire the programme without deleting it. | No |
How it works
A programme on its own does nothing. It becomes useful when you point a class at it on the Class / Grade master: from then on the class, and every enrolment in it, is grouped under that programme.
Untick Active to retire a programme. It stops being offered on new classes while the classes already pointing at it are untouched, which is why retiring is safer than deleting.
Tips and common mistakes
- Keep the code short and unique. It is used where the full name will not fit.
- The level and the duration are picked from fixed lists. If the one you want is missing, the list is set up centrally rather than typed here.
- Enrollment does not ask for a programme. It reaches it through the class you pick, so a class pointed at the wrong programme quietly mis-groups every student in it.
