One line per product, showing how much of it was sold in the period and what that came to in money.
When to use it
To see which products are moving, to compare one product against another over the same period, and to pull a single product's sales figure for a customer.
Before you start
- Sales invoices are entered for the period.
- The products and customers you want to filter on exist on your lists.
- You need permission to open the Sales reports.
Where to find it
Two places, showing the same data:
- Reports > Sales & Distribution > Summary > Product Wise Sales Summary.
- The Reports panel, under Sales, as Sales by Product.
The fields on this screen
| Filter (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| From Date | Start of the period this report covers. | Yes |
| To Date | End of the period this report covers. | Yes |
| Product | Limit the report to one product. Leave it blank to include every product. | No |
| Customer | Limit the report to one customer. Leave it blank to include every customer. | No |
On the menu version the two dates are set as From Miti and To Miti.
How it works
The report gathers the sales invoice lines in the period and adds them up per product, so one row covers however many invoices mentioned that product. Quantity is in the unit shown beside it, and the money figure is the line value with each line's share of any extra charges on its invoice added in. Both are totalled at the foot.
Tips and common mistakes
- Quantity is added up as entered. If the same product is sold in two different units, the total is a mix of the two and is not meaningful. Check the Unit column before trusting a total.
- This summary does not separate posted invoices from drafts, so a draft invoice adds to the figures here while it is absent from the Sales Invoice report. Expect the two to disagree until everything is posted.
- Sales returns are not deducted. Read the Sales Return report alongside this one for the net picture.
- The Sector box on this screen does nothing. Ignore it.
