Lets your company decide which of the standard reports appear in the Report Centre, and reword them, without changing the standard report itself.
When to use it
- Trimming the Report Centre to the reports your staff actually use.
- Renaming a report or a column to the wording your organisation uses.
- Hiding a filter that does not apply to your business.
Before you start
Nothing has to exist first; the standard reports are already there. This changes what everyone in your company sees, so agree the wording before you start.
Where to find it
Setup > Report Setup > Report Overrides.
How it works
The left side lists every standard report grouped by module, with an "on" badge against the ones enabled for your company. Pick one and its settings open on the right.
- Enabled for my tenant decides whether the report appears in the Report Centre for your users. Turning it off hides it. It deletes nothing, and it does not stop anyone who already has a link to the report from opening it.
- Report overrides reword the report itself: its title, its icon and the other headline settings.
- Column overrides and Filter overrides give one row per column and per filter of the standard report. A column can be reworded or hidden, and a filter reworded.
- The advanced section holds the finer settings the report supports. Leave them alone unless somebody has told you exactly what to put there.
- Save writes them all together.
Two things to know about how these settings behave:
- A blank box means "use the standard", not "make it blank". Clearing a title you had overridden puts the standard title back; the report is not left untitled.
- Nothing you do here changes the standard report that comes with the product, and nothing reaches another company. Your version sits on top of the standard for your users only. Remove your version and they go back to the standard at once.
Changes take effect the next time somebody opens the Report Centre or the report.
Tips and common mistakes
- Hide a report instead of renaming it into something unrecognisable. Support and the help pages still call it by its standard name.
- If a report has disappeared for everybody and nobody edited it, check whether it was disabled here.
