The list of floors in your property: Ground, First, Second, Basement and so on.
When to use it
Once, while you set up the property, before any shutter or unit is recorded against a floor.
Before you start
- Nothing else has to exist first. Floors are one of the first things you enter.
- You need rights to create masters.
Where to find it
Masters > Rental > Floor.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Code | Short code for this floor. Keep it unique. | No |
| Floor Name | Name of the floor as you refer to it, such as Ground or First. | No |
| Remarks | Optional note about this floor, such as what it is used for. | No |
How it works
- Enter each floor once. A floor is only a short code and a name.
- The list then appears in three places: on a Shutter, which says which floor a unit sits on; on a Tenancy, which records who occupies it; and on a Meter Reading round, which is walked one floor at a time.
- One list serves the whole property. A floor is not tied to one block, so you enter Ground once and pick it on every block.
- A landlord reads the names you choose here on the rental reports (Occupancy by Floor groups by them), so it is worth getting them right at the start.
Tips and common mistakes
- Keep names short and consistent. They show on every picker and every report.
- Enter floors in the order they run up the building. That is the order they are offered in.
- Do not delete a floor that shutters, tenancies or meter readings already use. The screen does not refuse the delete or warn you. It succeeds without a message, and a shutter left pointing at the deleted floor cannot be saved again, even unchanged, until you give it a new floor.
