A production journal. For each Finished Goods Received document in the period, it lists the finished product taken into stock and the raw materials that went into it, with the quantity on each side.
When to use it
To trace a production run end to end, or to check what was consumed against what was produced over a period.
Before you start
- The Finished Goods Received documents for the period are entered.
- You need permission to open the Production reports.
Where to find it
Two places, showing the same data:
- Reports > Production > Finished Goods Register.
- The Reports panel, under Manufacturing, as Production Register.
The fields on this screen
| Filter (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Pick one or more products. Leave it blank to include every product. | No |
| From Date | Start of the period this report covers. | No |
| To Date | End of the period this report covers. | No |
How it works
Each Finished Goods Received document contributes two kinds of row. The output row carries the finished product and a quantity in the Produced column. The input rows carry the raw materials and their quantities in the Consumed column, with the finished product they went into named beside them. Both kinds sit in one flat list in document order, so read the Finished Goods column to see which run a row belongs to.
Tips and common mistakes
- Do not add the two quantity columns together. Produced counts finished units, Consumed counts raw material units, and the two are usually in different units of measure.
- To see the finished goods alone, use the Finished Goods Receipt Register. To see only what was consumed, use Raw Material Consumption. This register is the two of them side by side.
- Only Finished Goods Received documents feed this list. A production order that has not been received into stock is not here yet.
- Leaving both dates blank returns the whole production history, which gets long. Set a period.
