A list of every customer who owes you money, with the amount split by how overdue it is: Current (not yet due), 1-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ days. Each customer has a total, and there is a grand total at the bottom.
When to use it
For collections: it shows who to chase first. The 61-90 and 90+ columns are your problem accounts.
Where to find it
The same report is in two places: Reports > Ageing > Receivable Ageing, or Reports > Finance > Outstanding Receivable.
Before you start
- Sales invoices and receipts must be entered and posted. The report ages what is still open.
Running the report
- Open the report from either menu.
- Read the list: each customer's outstanding amount is split across the age buckets, with a total row at the bottom for each column.
- Choose the active organization (or "All") to scope the figures.
Reading the result
- Current is not yet overdue. 1-30 / 31-60 / 61-90 / 90+ are more and more overdue.
- Total Outstanding on each row is the customer's full open balance. The footer row totals each column.
- Put your collection effort into the older buckets on the right.
Tips and common mistakes
- The report ages open billed amounts. Customer advances, or opening balances not tied to an open invoice, may not appear. So the grand total can be a little less than the customer's ledger balance. Check the Customer Ledger for the full account movement.
- Only posted vouchers count.
