The register your VAT return is filed from, read back as a list. There is one row per bill, with the date in both calendars, the other party and their PAN, the bill number, and the taxable, exempt and VAT values.
When to use it
Every month before you file, to check the bills that make up the return. Afterwards, whenever the tax office or an auditor asks to see the register behind a figure.
Before you start
- The month's purchase and sales documents are entered, so their register lines exist.
- You know which Nepali month and year the return covers.
- You need permission to open the Statutory reports.
Where to find it
It is in two places:
- Reports > Statutory Reports > VAT Reports > VAT Register, which shows purchases and sales together.
- The Reports panel, under Tax & Compliance, where it is split in two: VAT Purchase Register for the purchase side and VAT Sales Register for the sales side.
The fields on this screen
| Filter (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| BS Year | The Nepali (BS) year the bill was filed under. Leave it blank to include every year. | No |
| BS Month | The Nepali (BS) month the bill was filed under. Leave it blank to include every month. | No |
| Site | Limits the register to one or more sites. Leave it blank to include every site. | No |
The menu version shows only the Month and Year boxes.
How it works
Each row is a line of the VAT register, written there when the bill behind it was entered. The report does not recalculate anything. It shows the month, the values and the classification exactly as they were recorded, and totals the taxable, VAT and exempt columns at the foot.
If a figure is wrong, correct the register line on the VAT Register entry screen, not here.
Tips and common mistakes
- The Month list is not complete. You cannot reach bills recorded under Ashadh or Baishakh from the month picker. It sends a slightly different spelling from the one those rows were saved with. If a month looks empty and you know it should not be, clear the Month box and read the Month column instead.
- With no month and no year set, the report returns the whole register, which is slow and long. Set a period first.
- A bill sits in the month it was filed under, which is not always the month of its date. When you reconcile a return, sort or filter on Month, not on Date.
- A blank party name or PAN means the bill was recorded without them. Fix it on the entry screen before you file.
