A one-box list of expense splits, such as Direct or Indirect, that an account can be tagged with.
When to use it
When you want expense accounts marked with the split they belong to, so anyone opening the account can see how it is meant to be classified.
Before you start
You need an admin role.
Where to find it
Setup > Expenses Bifurcation Type.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Expenses Bifurcation Type | Name of an expense split you can tag a ledger with. A label only - no report groups by it. | No |
How it works
Saving a name adds it to the Expenses Bifurcation list on the Ledger master, where it can be set against an account. That is as far as it goes.
It is a label, nothing more. No financial statement, profit and loss or expense report in the product today groups, splits or totals by this tag. Setting it does not change any number or any report layout. Read it as a note to whoever opens the account next.
Renaming an entry changes what the Ledger master offers from then on, and accounts already tagged with it show the new name. Nothing downstream depends on the wording, so a rename here is safe in a way that a rename on Accounts Group Type or Accounts Ledger Type Setup is not.
Tips and common mistakes
- Tagging accounts here will not produce a Direct and Indirect breakdown of expenses anywhere. If you need that split reported, it has to come from the account groups.
