A training course your staff can be put on. A course holds modules, and each module holds the lessons a learner works through.
When to use it
When you set up a new piece of training, such as a safety induction or a machine handling course, and want to track who has completed it.
Before you start
You need the Knowledge Category you want to file the course under, if you use categories, and create rights on this screen.
Where to find it
Knowledge and Training > Course.
The Knowledge and Training group is switched off in the main menu for now, so the entry is not shown. Until it is switched back on, open the screen from a link someone sends you or from a saved bookmark. If your organisation uses training, ask your administrator to turn the group back on.

How it works
Saving creates the course shell and nothing else. Build it out with Course Modules, then Lessons under each module, and add a Quiz if you want to test people.
Completion is counted from lessons and nothing else. When every lesson in the course is marked Completed for a learner's enrolment, that enrolment is completed. The learner's Final Score is filled with the share of lessons finished, and a certificate is issued automatically.
Validity (months) gives that certificate an expiry date. Leave it blank and the certificate never expires. Set 12 and the learner is due to retrain a year later.
A course with no lessons never completes, because there is nothing to finish.
Tips and common mistakes
- Status, Level and Mandatory are labels for your own reporting. A course left at Draft can still be enrolled on, and ticking Mandatory does not put anybody on the course.
- Est. Duration (min) is guidance shown to the reader. Nothing measures the real time taken.
- Pass Score % on the course is recorded, but nothing acts on it. The pass mark actually used to grade an attempt is the one set on the Quiz, so set it there.
- To retire a course, untick Active instead of deleting it. Past enrolments and certificates then keep their meaning.
