One answer choice on a quiz question, and whether that choice is a correct one.
When to use it
Straight after you write a question, to give it its answers. Every question type needs options, including a typed-answer question.
Before you start
The Quiz Question must exist, and you need create rights on this screen.
Where to find it
Knowledge and Training > Question Option.
The Knowledge and Training group is switched off in the main menu for now, so the entry is not shown. Until it is switched back on, open the screen from a link someone sends you or from a saved bookmark.
The fields on this screen
| Field (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Question | The question this answer belongs to. Grading counts how many of its answers are marked correct. | No |
| Option Text | The wording of this answer. On a typed-answer question it is what the learner's text is matched against. | No |
| Correct | Tick every answer that counts as correct. On a multi-answer question the learner must pick them all. | No |
| Order | Sets the order the answers are shown in. Lower numbers come first. | No |
How it works
Marking compares a learner's answer against the options you tick Correct.
On a single choice or true or false question, the learner's pick has to be one of them. On a multiple choice question the learner has to select all of them and nothing else, so the learner has to match every option you tick. On a typed-answer question, the wording you enter is the accepted answer. It is matched without regard to capitals, or to spaces at either end.
Order sets the sequence the answers are listed in, lowest number first.
Tips and common mistakes
- Tick Correct on every answer that counts, not only the first. On a multiple choice question, a learner who picks all the right ones is still marked wrong if you ticked only one of them.
- If you edit an option after people have sat the quiz, their attempts grade differently the next time an attempt is graded.
