This is a reference list. It is not yet an automatic shortcut. It records which ledger (and narration) a product should use when it is transacted in a particular cost center. Saving a mapping here does not currently fill the ledger in for you on any entry screen, so you still pick the ledger by hand when you post. Ask your administrator whether this has changed before you rely on it.
When to use it
It is entirely optional. The system works fine without any mappings, and today a mapping changes nothing at entry time. If a product and cost center combination always posts to the same ledger, you can record it here so anyone posting it can look the ledger up.
Where to find it

Adding a record

- Pick the Cost Center, the Product and the Ledger to post to.
- If you like, pick a Narration Set or type a Custom Narration.
- Click Save.
What's already there
Two examples: Steel Rod 12mm and Cement OPC, both sold from the Sales Division and mapped to their sales ledgers.
Tips and common mistakes
- The mapping does not fill the ledger in for you yet. Skip this screen if you do not want to keep a reference list, and always check the ledger yourself when posting.
- Avoid two mappings for the same Cost Center and Product. The screen will not stop you, and nothing tells you which one is the right answer if you later rely on it.
