A set of questions attached to a course, or to one lesson inside it, used to check that a learner has taken the material in.
When to use it
When a course needs a test at the end, or when a single lesson needs a short check before the learner moves on.
Before you start
The Course must exist. Pick a Lesson as well only when the quiz belongs to that one lesson. You need create rights on this screen.
Where to find it
Knowledge and Training > Quiz.
The Knowledge and Training group is switched off in the main menu for now, so the entry is not shown. Until it is switched back on, open the screen from a link someone sends you or from a saved bookmark.

How it works
Saving creates an empty quiz. Add Quiz Questions to it, then Question Options for the answers. The quiz total is the marks of all its questions added together.
Pass Score % is the one setting on this screen that is actually applied. When an attempt is graded, the learner's score is the marks earned as a percentage of that total. The attempt is marked passed once the score reaches the pass mark. Leave Pass Score % blank and every attempt passes, including one that scored nothing.
A quiz does not affect whether a course is completed. Completion counts finished lessons, so a learner who fails the quiz still completes the course and still gets the certificate. If passing must be a condition, check the attempts yourself before you mark the last lesson done.
Tips and common mistakes
- Fill in Pass Score %. A blank pass mark passes everybody.
- Max Attempts, Time Limit (min), Shuffle Questions and Show Answers After are stored with the quiz, but nothing acts on them today. Nobody is stopped at the attempt limit, no clock runs, the questions are not shuffled and the answers are not revealed afterwards. Treat them as notes on how you intend the quiz to be run.
