The bank's own statement for one account, exactly as it was imported. It is the bank's version of events, not yours.
When to use it
While reconciling. Open this beside the same account's book balance to see which side a missing entry is on.
Before you start
- A statement for that account has been imported, through Bank Statement Import or a bank feed. If nothing has been imported, this report is empty however the dates are set.
- The bank account exists as a cash or bank account in your masters.
- You need view access to the Banking reports.

Where to find it
Reports > Banking > Bank Statement.
Running the report
- Open Reports > Banking > Bank Statement.
- Choose the Bank Account. Nothing is shown until you do.
- Set From Date and To Date, or keep the defaults.
How it works
- One row is one line on the bank's statement, in date order.
- Debit is money leaving the account and Credit is money arriving. That is the bank's way round, the opposite of how the same movement reads in your own books.
- Balance is the bank's running balance as the bank supplied it. It is copied in with the statement, not recalculated here, so it will not move if you change the dates or edit a voucher. If it looks wrong, check the import.
- Transaction ID, Cheque No and Reference are the bank's own references. They are what you match against a payment or receipt voucher.
- This report changes nothing and posts nothing. It is a reference copy of what the bank sent.
Tips and common mistakes
- A row here with no matching voucher is money the bank has recorded and you have not. Bank charges and interest are the usual two. A voucher with no row here is the opposite: a cheque issued and not yet presented.
- Because Balance comes from the bank, it will not tie to your book balance until the reconciliation is finished. That gap is the point of the exercise, not an error.
