The adjustment lines of the VAT register: the date, the reference number, the month the adjustment is filed under, the VAT value, how it is classified and the remark recorded with it.
When to use it
When a month's return does not agree with the underlying bills, and you want to see the adjustments that were made to bring it into line.
Before you start
- The adjustments are recorded on the VAT Register entry screen and classified as an adjustment.
- You need permission to open the Statutory reports.
The filters
| Filter (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Month | Limits this return to one Nepali (BS) month. Leave it blank to see every month. | No |
Where to find it
Reports > Statutory Reports > VAT Reports > Other Adjustment and Debit/Credit Notes.
How it works
The report keeps the register lines whose classification contains the word adjustment, and totals their VAT value at the foot. These values move the Adjustment Sales and Adjustment Purchase figures on the Maskebari summary for the same month.
Tips and common mistakes
- Whatever the name says, a debit or credit note only appears here if it was classified as an adjustment. A note recorded as a sales return or a purchase return sits in the VAT Register report instead. Read this report together with the VAT Register, not in place of it.
- The Paid By column is blank on every row. An adjustment does not record a party, so there is nothing for that column to show.
- The month list is not complete. You cannot reach an adjustment filed under Ashadh from the month picker. Leave the month blank and read the Month column instead.
- Always write a remark when you record an adjustment. This report is where someone will look for the reason, and a blank remark tells them nothing.
