An item-by-item listing of the goods your customers sent back in a period, with quantity, rate and value. Quantity and value are totalled at the foot.
When to use it
At month end, or whenever you want to see how much came back and on which items, before you look at the individual return documents.
Before you start
- The sales returns are entered and posted. A draft return does not appear here.
- You need permission to open the Sales reports.
The filters
| Filter (on screen) | What to enter | Required |
|---|---|---|
| From Miti | Start of the period the report covers. | Yes |
| To Miti | End of the period the report covers. | Yes |
Where to find it
Reports > Sales & Distribution > Sales Return.
How it works
Each row is one line of a posted sales return, so a return of three items is three rows. Quantity and Amount are totalled at the foot, which gives you the period's return value in one figure.
The report shows returns only. It does not net them off against the sales in the Sales Invoice report, so compare the two totals yourself.
Tips and common mistakes
- The report stays empty until both dates are set. The Period box above the dates does not fill them in for you.
- A return that was entered but not posted is missing here. Its stock and accounting effect has not happened either.
- Rate on this list is the value per unit after any extra charges on the document are spread over its lines. It can differ slightly from the rate typed on the return.
